How many times have you counted to 10, and nothing happened?

Parenting children with ADHD can be challenging and sometimes

Thank you for pointing that out! Here's the corrected translation:

Frustrating.

They are our amazing children. The fruit of our love.

That doesn’t mean everything goes smoothly...

So how many times have you counted to 10 (not to 3!! No chance!!) expecting what you asked for to happen?

Here are some important facts to remember!

1. They can’t handle more than one task at a time. So don’t make two requests in one breath.

2. When they’re interested in something (like a video game/screen, for example...), they’re in hyper-focus... and therefore, they don’t hear anything...

3. If you want their attention – disconnect screens and make sure there’s eye contact.

4. ADHD is not an excuse.

5. If the request is doable for them, ask. If not... choose your battles wisely.

6. ADHD is neurological and won’t disappear... it’s here to stay!

7. A child with ADHD doesn’t need external noise; they have enough internal noise...

8. Sometimes, using an hourglass to define transition time from one state to another can help, and sometimes even that will be difficult...

9. Every child with ADHD has at least one parent with ADHD.

10. It’s more effective to breathe to 10 and approach the situation calmly than to count to 10 and expect something to actually happen...

11. Just because we’ve counted to 10 doesn’t mean it’s over... it’s only the beginning, la la...

Wishing you lots of success.

A family in chaos – that’s us...
